Does it feel like your child is tattling on their brother or sister constantly? Does your child ask you to resolve a lot of their problems when you know they could really solve them by themselves?
Throughout the start of the school year, Prairie Rose students have been taught nine different ways to be proactive and solve small problems by themselves. These techniques are collectively called Kelso’s Choices and promote conflict resolution skills in students grades K-5. The nine problem solving skills are:
Next time your child comes up to you with a problem, ask them this question: “Is this a big problem or a small problem?” If your child says it’s a small problem, ask: “What would Kelso do?” Hopefully your child will be able to answer these questions and be well on their way to solving their own conflicts!

- Walk Away
- Wait and Cool Off
